Saturday Clinic: Joining Yarn

Knitting 101 Class

Always wanted to learn to knit? This class is for you. Jared Hanson will teach you the basics of knitting in this two session class. You will learn to cast on, knit, purl, and cast off your first project, a dishcloth. Materials will be provided. Classes are Wednesdays, July 10 and 17, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Cost: $ 55.00
Do you want to learn about charts and lace? Jane will walk you through reading a chart in this one hour class. Please cast on 20 stitches in a sport or dk weight yarn on a size US 8/ 5mm needles before you arrive. Saturday, July 13 9:00-10:00 a.m.

Knit Camp for Kids (ages 9-12)

Step into a world of creativity and warmth with our Knit Camp for Kids! This hands-on workshop is designed for young aspiring knitters aged 9 to 12. Led by experienced instructor Jane Taylor, your child will embark on a knitting journey filled with fun, imagination, and the joy of crafting.

Mending Basics with Katy

Tiny snags in your favorite sweater? Rips in your jeans? Toes showing up through your socks? Mending to the rescue! In the past 3 years, there has been a resurgence of learning repair and mending techniques to slow down your fashion and help clothing last longer. On trend fashion has been encouraging of using patches and visible mending to extend the life of clothing in your life. We’ll be learning to use a Katrinkles style Darning Loom and the basics of sashiko (the Japanese art of tiny stitches) and to expand our options for how to repair different fabrics. Thursday, August 1, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Easy Gansey Sweater

A Gansey is a traditional British Isle fisherman's sweater which is tight fitting and knit with fingering weight yarn on fine needles but for this sweater we will be using a worsted weight yarn and appropriately sized needles. It features knit/purl patterns, underarm gussets, and no seams! Body length and shape will be modified for a custom fit. Pattern included. Saturdays, August 10, 24, and September 14, 8:00-10:00 a.m.

CLASS POLICIES

Fees and Discount
Class fees do not include supplies unless indicated. 

Supplies
Plan on arriving in plenty of time before your first class session to purchase
supplies, especially if you need to have yarn wound. We encourage you to visit the shop
a few days before your first class to purchase supplies. For some classes supplies will be included.

Cancellations
Student cancellations must be made 48 prior to the first class session to receive a
refund or store credit. No refunds or makeup sessions are available for missed sessions
of multi-session classes.

If Prairie Road Yarn needs to cancel a class for any reason (including weather) we will
notify registrants via phone or email. We will offer a refund if we're unable to reschedule
the class.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Knitting and crocheting are fun and useful skills, but we know that getting started can be daunting. Solo learning is an efficient way to learn (you can pack a lot into an hour!), and our teachers are eager to teach private lessons for those who prefer a one-on-one learning style.

$45 per one-hour session
$25 per half-hour session

Private lessons are available during shop hours, depending on instructor availability.
