Knitting 101 Class

Always wanted to learn to knit? This class is for you. Jared Hanson will teach you the basics of knitting in this two session class. You will learn to cast on, knit, purl, and cast off your first project, a dishcloth. Materials will be provided. Classes are Wednesdays, September 25 and October 2 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Granny Square Workshop

Squares are in! Bring your crochet basics and learn how to make the classic granny square! You already know how to do the stitches--we're going to show you how to put it all together, how to read a crochet chart, and a plethora of things you can do with granny squares! One 2-hour class on Saturday, October 12, 8:30-10:30 a.m.

A live class with the wonderful Patty Lyons! Take control of your yarn substitutions! In this class, Patty reveals the secrets of how to select the right yarn for your project. Proper yarn selection can make or break your project. When it comes to making a yarn substitution, there’s more to it than you might think. Although there are a lot of pit falls to be avoided, if done properly, you will have a finished object that will fit you like a glove (or a hat, or a sweater.) THIS IS A VIRTUAL CLASS! You must have a computer/phone with internet connection and the current Zoom meeting software downloaded.

Do you want to go beyond making dishcloths and scarves? Learn to knit in the round by making a hat in this two session class. You will learn in round on circular needles, magic loop, and double point needles. This will advance your skills to be ready to knit socks, mittens, and sweaters in the round. For this two session class Jared Hanson will be your instructor. Materials not included. See requirements for needed materials. Classes are Wednesdays, October 23 and 30, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Your First Sock

Learn all the basics of knitting socks in this beginner friendly class. Our instructor, Jared will walk you through cast on to bind off. You will learn about fit, heel flap and gussets, as well as grafting. This is an advanced beginner class. Classes are Fridays, October 25, November 1 and 8, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Color Work Selbu Mittens

Learn to make a classic Selbu Norwegian mittens with Jane Taylor. These mittens work up fast because we will be using worsted weight yarn. At the end of this three session class you will be confident in your color work skills and be on your way to beautiful mittens for everyone you know. Classes are three Tuesdays, October 29, November 5 and 12 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

CLASS POLICIES

Fees and Discount
Class fees do not include supplies unless indicated. 

Supplies
Plan on arriving in plenty of time before your first class session to purchase
supplies, especially if you need to have yarn wound. We encourage you to visit the shop
a few days before your first class to purchase supplies. For some classes supplies will be included.

Cancellations
Student cancellations must be made 48 prior to the first class session to receive a
refund or store credit. No refunds or makeup sessions are available for missed sessions
of multi-session classes.

If Prairie Road Yarn needs to cancel a class for any reason (including weather) we will
notify registrants via phone or email. We will offer a refund if we're unable to reschedule
the class.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Knitting and crocheting are fun and useful skills, but we know that getting started can be daunting. Solo learning is an efficient way to learn (you can pack a lot into an hour!), and our teachers are eager to teach private lessons for those who prefer a one-on-one learning style.

$45 per one-hour session
$25 per half-hour session

Private lessons are available during shop hours, depending on instructor availability.
